Bi-key
STORY
🚲 Built for the City. Designed for Real Life.
I’m Levan Amiranashvili — an architect with a master’s in urban studies, originally from Georgia and now living in Sweden for the past decade. Bikes have always meant more to me than just transport. They’re freedom, connection, rhythm. A way to be in the city, not just pass through it. Bi-key was born from that love — and a simple question that hit during the pandemic: How do you carry groceries on a bike without using a shared cart? That question sparked Le Cruise — a wooden bike basket designed to carry everything from shopping bags to yoga mats, pets to picnic blankets. A basket for the whole week — and the whole you.

🌱 Why Bi-key?
Because function shouldn't mean ugly. Because sustainability shouldn't mean disposable. Because you shouldn't have to choose between style, freedom, or practicality.
Cyclists aren’t one type — they’re teachers, artists, parents, students, baristas, musicians. They stop by cafés after work, take the scenic route just because they can, and know where the city breathes. They feel the seasons in the air and in their pedals.
Bi-key exists for them. For you. Not to push a lifestyle — but to carry one.
Most bike baskets and bags today are clunky, awkward, and soulless. Mass-produced plastic. Wobbly metal cages. Bags that feel more like an afterthought than something you’d want to live with. I decided to change that.To design something that fits city life and personal style. Something people would actually enjoy using. Something that feels like you, not just “bike gear.”Bi-key isn’t about utility alone — it’s about joy, identity, and movement. A softer, more human kind of mobility.

🪵 Why Wood? Why Custom? Why REMOVABLE SIDES?
Testing. Tweaking. Starting over.
I spent years trying to get it right. There was no blueprint — no similar product to copy or improve. Nothing like Le Cruise existed.
So I began from scratch: switching materials, reworking joints, changing proportions, and learning the language of durability, beauty, and function all over again. I didn’t want just another basket. I WANTED DESIGN ON TWO WHEELS — design that is functional, looks cool, and reflects its owner. I wanted something that felt like it belonged in the city — something as meaningful as the ride itself.
That journey led me to wood. The idea came from my neighborhood Södermalm, Stockholm — especially the Långholmen Canal, lined with old wooden boats. Some are freshly polished, others weathered and raw, but all of them carry stories. That mix of tradition and timeless utility stuck with me. Wood has been used for centuries worldwide to build houses, bridges, and more. In Scandinavia, wood isn’t just a material — it’s part of the culture and represents the perfect balance between modern and traditional design. It’s cared for. It lasts. It connects us to nature in a way plastic or metal never can replicate.
So I asked myself:
Why shouldn’t a bicycle basket carry that same soul?
Le Cruise is built from marine-grade plywood, held together with real boat bolts — like the ones used on sailing vessels. It’s not mass-produced. It’s not a throwaway.
The basket comes lined with upcycled fabric — just like the sails that once caught the wind, now repurposed to protect your belongings. Like a wooden boat, Le Cruise is covered during winter to protect it from the elements, and cared for in spring with oil or wax to renew its natural beauty. This seasonal ritual turns the basket into a living part of your journey — aging gracefully, growing richer with every ride.
It’s more than a basket. It’s a piece of your journey. And yes — it’s customizable. You can add your child’s drawing, your company logo, or your own design. Because what you carry should carry you — your identity, your style, your way of moving through the city.
👜From Basket to Bag — A Shared Spirit and Purpose
As the basket took shape, it became clear that to truly complete the journey, it needed a companion — a bag that shared its spirit and identity. The wooden basket inspired a natural extension: bags made from sail fabric and other recycled materials, echoing the same values of resilience, function, and style.
These bags aren’t an afterthought or an add-on. They’re designed with the same purpose in mind: to serve real urban lives with elegance and practicality. Crafted from reclaimed sailcloth and recycled textiles, each bag carries the story of the sea and the city, blending rugged durability with refined aesthetics. Water-resistant, flexible, and repairable, they fit perfectly inside Le Cruise or stand alone — ready for yoga, groceries, or a day out with your pet.
The bags are designed for versatility and wide use. Take, for example, the yoga bag — large enough and stylish enough to double as a work bag, gym bag, travel companion, or all of the above. Every Bi-key bag created now and in the future will carry the same spirit: practical, stylish, lightweight, durable, and sustainable.
In fact, these bags made Bi-key even more beautiful — because even if you don’t ride a bike, having a Bi-key bag means carrying a perfect mix of function, design, and sustainability. It’s a statement piece for anyone who values thoughtful style and conscious living.
Together, the wooden basket and the recycled bags form a system built for movement, connection, and purpose. It’s not just gear for riders — it’s a lifestyle choice that reflects who you are and how you move through the world.

✨One Basket, one story at a time
I started Bi-key alone. I’m the designer, the maker, the marketer, the tester. Every piece goes through my hands. Every challenge teaches me something new. But this is my way of giving back. To cities. To cyclists. To people who still believe we can build a better everyday — one ride, one laugh, one slow cruise at a time. Le Cruise is not just a bike basket. It’s a reminder that beauty and function can coexist. That we can move slower, lighter, and better. And that sometimes, the best journeys start with a single pedal stroke.
